On Thursday, the National Council for Women (NCW), headed by Dr.Maya Morsy, honored Egyptian actress Mona Zaki for her performance in the TV series “Taht El Wasaya”.

The council organized a ceremony titled "Women in Ramadan Drama" to honor the TV productions supporting Egyptian women during the holy month of Ramadan.

The council also honored several cast and crew members including child Omar Sharif and the twin girls Farah and Farida, who played her children.

Director Mohamed Shaker Khodeir and screenwriters Khaled and Sherine Diab were also feted during the ceremony.

The honoring comes as an annual incentive after the Ramadan drama marathon for production companies, actresses, and writers who have contributed to advancing the role of women in society, tackling issues that shed light on the importance of women's work, and awareness-raising work.

Based on a true story, the 15-episode drama follows the challenges and hardships and challenges of Hanan, a recently widowed mother of two, who will do anything to keep custody of her children—even if it means becoming a fisherwoman.

The series also stars Diab, Nisreen Amin, Rushdi Al Shami, Maha Nassar, Khaled Kamal, Mohamed Abdel Azim, and others.
