The Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir announced, Tuesday, that his country’s merchandise exports continued to rise for the fourth month in a row, indicating that their value amounted to about $12.912 billion in the first four months of this year, an increase of 10% on an annual basis.
A ministry statement quoted Samir as saying that the largest receiving markets for Egyptian merchandise exports during that period included Saudi Arabia worth $1.96 billion, followed by Turkey worth $1.76 billion.
In third place came Italy with a value of $793.1 million, the UAE with a value of $735 million, and the United States with a value of $716.2 million.
According to the statement, building materials came at the top of the export sectors forming the structure of merchandise exports with a value of $2.87 billion, followed by food industries with $2.1 billion.
Moreover, chemical products and fertilizers were worth $1.97 billion, followed by agricultural crops worth $1.76 billion, engineering and electronic goods worth $1.7 billion, and ready-made garments worth $855 million.
