Egypt’s Iconic Tower in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) was lit up with the flags of Pakistan and Egypt in celebration of Pakistan’s 85th National Day, highlighting the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Raza Shahid, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo, attended the grand illumination, which took place at Africa’s tallest skyscraper.
The gesture symbolized Egypt’s recognition of Pakistan’s national celebration and reinforced bilateral relations.
Earlier in the day, the Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo hosted a flag-hoisting ceremony attended by embassy officials and members of the Pakistani community.
The event began with the national anthem and prayers for Pakistan’s peace and prosperity. Messages from Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were read, emphasizing the occasion’s significance.
Adding to the diplomatic warmth, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi extended his congratulations to Pakistan, with a message delivered by the Chamberlain of the Presidency.
This reaffirmed the enduring friendship between the two countries, which share historical ties and cooperation in trade, defense, and cultural exchange.
Pakistan National Day, observed annually on March 23, commemorates the 1940 Lahore Resolution, a pivotal moment in the country’s journey to independence.
