Egypt’s Foreign Minister Meets US House Speaker in Washington

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdel Ati, held a side meeting with U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson at the conclusion of his visit to the U.S. capital, Washington.

During the meeting, Abdel Ati conveyed the greetings of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the Speaker, reaffirming Cairo’s commitment to maintaining ongoing consultation and coordination with Washington. 

He highlighted the depth of the longstanding strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, as well as the shared interests that continue to shape bilateral relations.

On his part, Speaker Johnson asked Abdel Ati to relay his greetings and appreciation to President El-Sisi, praising Egypt’s pivotal role in promoting regional security and stability. He also commended Cairo’s efforts in mediating ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting underscored the mutual recognition of the strategic value of U.S.-Egypt relations, particularly amid regional challenges requiring close diplomatic cooperation.
