Egypt’s FM Meets with Pakistan’s President to Discuss Enhancing Bilateral Ties

On Tuesday, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a meeting in Islamabad with Pakistani President Aref Alvi on Tuesday, during which they discussed the bilateral relations between Egypt and Pakistan.

During the meeting, Shoukry expressed the necessity to keep the current momentum of the relations between the two countries. He also delivered President El-Sisi’s regards to President Alvi, according to the Egyptian foreign ministry.

Shoukry added that it is important to continue boosting political consultation and continuing coordination, whether on the bilateral level or at international forums about issues of common interest.

In turn, Alvi said that he looks forward to a visit by his Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to Pakistan soon.

Earlier, Shoukry met with officials including Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad, where Shoukry expressed hopes that this visit will be an opportunity to push forward bilateral relations between Egypt and Pakistan.

Shoukry is in Pakistan to attend the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation convened in Islamabad.

Pakistan is the fourth and last stop for Shoukry in his Asian tour that started on Sunday 13 March, where he visited Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.
