Egyptian Museum Receives 155 Antiques

Egyptian Museum received 155 antique under the supervision of the supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum project Atef Moftah; the most important one is Tutankhamun sunshade which is the last antique to be transferred.

It is part of the Japanese- Egyptian project which includes 72 antiques sponsored by JICA, according to manager of Egyptian museum El-Tayeb Abbas.

He added that Amenemhat III statue was part of the received antiques; it belongs to Alexander-era and Ptolemy I and II.

Moreover, general manager of restoration and transferring antiques in Egyptian museum Eissa Zidan said that Tutankhamun sunshade was examined by X ray radio graph.

The 3D x ray is used to spot strength and weakness places before packaging.

He added that the Japanese-Egyptian team had restored it the first time using free acid materials in and humidity absorber materials. They also used thermometers and earthquake devices.

General Manager of technical affairs at the Egyptian museum Hussein Kamal said that the restored antique would be displayed in 2020 as part of Tutankhamun's collection.

Egyptology professor at Kanazawa University Nozomi Kawei said that the archeological studies on Tutankhamun' sunshade and the golden chariot, revealed that the 2 antiques might be related concerning the restoration materials used.
