Badr Abdelatty, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs received a phone call on Sunday from his Greek Counterpart Mr. Georgios Gerapetritis.
The call came as part of the regular consultations between the two ministers and focused on bilateral relations and regional developments.
Both ministers praised the historical ties and strong relations between the two friendly countries.
They welcomed the momentum in bilateral cooperation following the upgrade of relations to a strategic partnership in May, and expressed their shared commitment to strengthening collaboration and expanding relations across all fields.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering commitment to protecting religious sanctities, including Saint Catherine’s Monastery, emphasizing the importance of preserving its sacred status and safeguarding its affiliated archaeological sites due to their spiritual and religious significance.
Moreover, the two ministers exchanged views on developments in the Middle East, particularly the catastrophic humanitarian and health situation in Gaza.
In this regard, Abdelatty briefed his Greek counterpart on the latest efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement in Gaza, stressing the importance of ending bloodshed and ensuring the continuous flow of humanitarian aid to the territory.
The call also addressed the situation in Libya, highlighting the urgent need to hold simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections.
In the same context, both ministers underscored the necessity of dismantling militias and the withdrawal of all foreign forces, fighters, and mercenaries as essential steps to securing peace and stability in Libya.
