Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris returned to the list of the 500 richest billionaires in the world, after increasing his wealth by 26% from its lowest level in 2022, as his wealth reached $5.43 billion until February of 2023, according to the “Bloomberg” index.
Sawiris owns 88% of pan-European pay TV and video news network Euronews, through his Media Globe Holdings.
He developed a luxury resort called Silversands on the Caribbean island of Grenada.
Brother Nassef
Brother Nassef Sawiris was ranked 373 on the list of the 500 richest people in the world in 2020, with an estimated fortune of $5.43 billion, according to “CEO World”.
In December 2020, he acquired a 5% stake in New York-listed firm Madison Square Garden Sports, owner of the NBA Knicks and the NHL Rangers teams.
His holdings include stakes in cement giant Lafarge Holcim and Adidas; he sits on the supervisory board of Adidas.
Naguib Sawiris came in 432nd place, with a total wealth estimated at $4.80 billion.
Naguib left the list in 2021, before returning to it again in 2022.
In 2018, Naguib Sawiris' wealth amounted to $5.20 billion, ranking 365th in the world, as his wealth increased by $931 million, compared to 2017.
