Egypt welcomed, Sunday, the signing of the seven-day ceasefire between the conflicting Sudanese parties in Sudan, mainly, the Sudanese Army and Rapid Support Forces.
Released by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the statement added that rescue and medical efforts, along with relieving and easing the injured, hurt, and wounded need time, even if it is for a week.
We hope that the ceasefire could be extended after its expiration, leading to a comprehensive and sustainable agreement to stop the fight.
Earlier, Sudan's factions at war have agreed to a seven-day ceasefire on Saturday, as the fighting continues to cause chaos and displace over one million people in the country.
The ceasefire is set to begin on Monday at 9:45 pm Khartoum time (1945 GMT), and will be monitored by a joint US-Saudi and internationally-supported mechanism.
The agreement includes provisions for the distribution of humanitarian aid, restoration of essential services, and the withdrawal of forces from hospitals and other critical public facilities.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has urged both sides to uphold the ceasefire and allow unobstructed humanitarian access.
