Egypt expressed its sincere condolences to Yemen following the stampede that took place in the capital city of Sanaa on Wednesday, leaving many dead and injured, announced the spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Abu-Zeid on Thursday.
The spokesperson conveyed sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery for the injured.
Late on Wednesday, a crowd stampeded at an event for distributing financial aid on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. The stampede happened after the crowd got into a mad panic caused by both gunfire and an arc flash. It resulted in killing at least 78 people and injuring many others.
Egypt stressed its full solidarity with the brotherly government and people of Yemen during this difficult time, Abu-Zeid concluded.
