Egypt to Close Malls, Parks, Beaches during Eid al-Fitr Holiday

Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli announced on Sunday the suspension of all public transport during the 6-day Eid al-Fitr holiday from May 24 to 29, in a bid to stop any possible gatherings that could spread the coronavirus.

In a press conference, the premier added that the decision will see the shutting down of buses, railways, the Cairo metro, and Nile transport. Moreover, all shops, malls, beaches, and public parks and gardens will be completely closed.

During this period the national curfew will be imposed from 5 pm: to 6 am.

The PM added that the "tough" measures aim at preserving citizens’ health.

It is worth mentioning, Egypt has so far registered 11719, including 612 deaths.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic as the new virus has rapidly spread from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
