Seoul is set to host the inaugural Korea-Africa Summit on June 4-5, under the theme “The Future We Create Together: Shared Growth, Sustainability, and Solidarity.” This historic summit aims to enhance cooperation and integration with the African continent.

In November 2022, South Korea officially announced its plan to host the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit, demonstrating its commitment to significantly expanding cooperation with Africa.

This first-of-its-kind summit represents a crucial turning point for both sides in substantially boosting practical cooperation, linking the complementary strengths of Korea and Africa to forge a future of mutual benefit, shared growth, sustainability, and solidarity.

The event is expected to attract delegations from over 45 countries, making it the largest multilateral summit since the inauguration of President Yoon Suk Yeol in May 2022.

Egypt's delegation, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, will represent President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Dr. Madbouly expressed his eagerness to visit Korea and participate in the summit on behalf of President El-Sisi.

South Korean Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the Korea-Africa Summit, Cho Tae-yul, commented on the summit, saying, “For the first time since the establishment of the Korean government, we are inviting African leaders to a Korea-Africa Summit. This summit will bear the fruits of the strong mutual determination between Korea and Africa to elevate existing cooperation to a higher level."

"It will serve as a milestone for both sides to harness this sense of solidarity and shape a future of sustainable shared prosperity as true partners. I ask for the Korean people's interest and support to ensure the summit's success.”
