The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is participating in Moscow's BRICS Tourism Working Group meeting.
Ihab Salem, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Financial Affairs and Investment, and Khaled Tharwat, Advisor to the Minister for International Relations and General Supervisor of the General Administration of International Relations, represented the ministry at the preparatory meeting of the tourism working group of the BRICS member states.
The focus of the meeting is to formulate and discuss the statement that the BRICS tourism ministers’ meeting will issue and to study the terms of reference for the tourism working group. Additionally, the meeting will address the roadmap for cooperation in the field of tourism among the BRICS member states during the coming period.
During the meeting, Tharwat delivered a speech expressing his appreciation to Russia for hosting and organizing the meeting of tourism ministers of the BRICS member states. He also emphasized the importance of this meeting, which is the first for the tourism working group after Russia’s presidency of the BRICS gathering this year.
Furthermore, he emphasized Egypt's status as one of the most important attractive tourist destinations in the world, underscoring its rich and diverse natural resources, distinguished tourist, archaeological, and human potentials, as well as its unique cultural heritage that has contributed to strengthening its bilateral relations with the BRICS countries.
Tharwat also expressed appreciation for Egypt's invitation to join the BRICS membership in January 2024.
