Egyptian Embassy in Hague, Netherlands has successfully recovered an ushabti statue, a fragment of a colored coffin, and a mummy head dating back to the Late Period. Investigations have confirmed that these artifacts were illegally excavated from Egypt.

This recovery is a testament to Egypt's ongoing efforts to repatriate stolen artifacts and underscores the nation's commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage. The Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities, Foreign Affairs, and the Public Prosecutor's Office played pivotal roles in this achievement, facilitated by the strong bilateral cooperation between Egypt and the Netherlands.

Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, stated that the artifacts were seized from an antiquities shop in the Netherlands. Following joint investigations by Egyptian and Dutch authorities, the artifacts were returned to Egypt. This success marks a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between Egypt and the Netherlands in the fight against the illicit trafficking of cultural property.

Shaaban Abdel Gawad, Director-General of the General Administration for the Recovery of Antiquities, explained that the recovered artifacts, dating back to the Late Period, include a blue glazed ushabti statue with inscriptions, a fragment of a wooden coffin adorned with carvings of the protective goddess Isis, and a well-preserved mummy head with visible teeth and hair.

It is worth mentioning that Egypt has managed to recover more than 30,000 artifacts since 2014.
