The total cases, which tested positive for coronavirus, reached 110 on Saturday, including 21 cases, who had been recovered, the Egyptian Health Ministry said.

In a statement, Khaled Megahed, the ministry's spokesman, said 17 confirmed cases were detected today; three of them are foreigners and 14 are Egyptians.

"Two out of the 14 cases returned from abroad and the remained were in contact with positive cases earlier announced," Megahed added.

Megahed pointed out that there only two death cases, who were announced on March 8 and 12.

The Health Ministry raises its preparedness at all the country's ports and airports to monitor the virus developments.

Earlier today, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed officials to suspend the educational process in schools and universities for two weeks, starting from Sunday, due to the coronavirus fears.

The president also ordered allocating EGP 100 billion to fund this plan and all preventive measures.

This came after Education Minister Tarek Shawki had announced in a press conference that four students had infected with the novel virus, including a student at City International School in Zamalek district.
