Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening health systems and pharmaceutical security across Africa during a meeting on Monday with Jean Kaseya, Director General of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

The meeting, which also included Hesham Stait, focused on expanding cooperation between Egypt and Africa CDC to advance health and pharmaceutical agendas at the continental level. Abdelatty praised the existing partnership, stressing that health is a core pillar of sustainable development in Africa.

The minister said Egypt is ready to share its successful experiences in healthcare and pharmaceutical manufacturing with African countries, highlighting Cairo’s efforts to support capacity building and knowledge transfer. He underlined the importance of training programs implemented by Egypt’s Ministry of Health in cooperation with Africa CDC, which aim to strengthen health systems and improve pharmaceutical preparedness across the continent.

Abdelatty also pointed to cooperation between the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority and Africa CDC in organizing the Africa Health ExCon exhibition, describing it as a key continental platform that brings together stakeholders from across Africa’s health and pharmaceutical sectors. He said the event reflects Egypt’s broader efforts to promote integration, exchange expertise, and support collective action with African partners, particularly in health and medicine.
