Egypt Reaffirms Commitment to African Water Cooperation on Africa Day

Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sweilem reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with African countries in water, climate, and environmental sectors on the occasion of Africa Day.

In a statement, Sweilem said Egypt is supporting African nations through development projects, technical cooperation, training, and knowledge exchange in areas including water management, groundwater drilling, rainwater harvesting, and climate adaptation.

He highlighted Egypt’s $100 million funding mechanism for Nile Basin projects and stressed the importance of joint African action to address growing water and climate challenges.

The minister also noted Egypt’s leadership roles in the African Ministers’ Council on Water and the African Water Facility, emphasizing Cairo’s commitment to promoting water security and sustainable development across Africa.
