Egypt has solidified its position as a global agricultural powerhouse, securing the second place worldwide in the export of temporarily preserved vegetables (HS Code 071190) for the year 2024, according to a new report from the Food Export Council.
The country exported 54,000 metric tons of vegetables preserved temporarily, a category that includes products prepared for further processing, generating $66 million in export revenue. This accounted for a 15.4% share of global exports in the category, a significant milestone that reflects Egypt’s fast-growing competitiveness in processed agricultural goods.
Egypt’s performance in this sector has been consistently improving, with the report noting an annual value growth rate of 15% and a volume growth rate of 12% between 2020 and 2024.
On a year-over-year basis, exports increased 10% in value between 2023 and 2024, despite global trade fluctuations, a sign of resilient supply chains, stable production infrastructure, and growing global confidence in Egyptian agricultural products.
