On Wednesday, the Federation of Egyptian Banks, in coordination with the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) agreed to raise limits on daily withdrawal limits from banks, starting from the 1st day of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, according to the federation's chairman Mohamed Eletreby .

He added that the daily limit for inpiduals would be EGP 50,000 instead of EGP 10,000 and ATM withdrawals will increase to EGP 20,000 from  EGP 5,000.

Last month, the CBE announced to reduce limits for daily deposits and withdrawal from banks within the framework of the country’s precautionary plan to curb the outbreak of coronavirus.

It is noteworthy that Egypt reported on Tuesday 157 new coronavirus cases, all of them are Egyptians, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 3,490.

“Fourteen more deaths were confirmed; raising the total number to 264,” Khaled Megahed, the Health Ministry’s spokesman, said in a statement.

“Up to 870 coronavirus patients have recovered so far,” the spokesman said.

“As many as 49 Egyptians were among the recovered patients today,” he added.

Also, the number of coronavirus patients who had now been retested for the virus and had received negative results has reached 1,181, after getting proper treatment in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO).

Earlier, Dr. John Jabbour, the WHO representative, noted that Egypt seriously dealt with the novel coronavirus since the start of its outbreak.

The Egyptian government took gradual measures to curb the spread of the virus, including the closure of schools and universities and preventing crowds, WHO representative stated.

In Egypt, 85% of the positive cases had recovered without treatment because their symptoms were simple, he said.
