Egypt’s postal authority will operate selected main post offices during the Eid Al-Adha holiday in an effort to maintain essential financial and postal services, according to an official source at the National Postal Authority.

The source said major post offices across governorates and district centers will remain open on Saturday and Sunday throughout the holiday period to ensure the continued disbursement of pensions and the delivery of key financial and postal services to citizens.

The Eid holiday for postal employees is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, coinciding with the Day of Arafah holiday, and will continue through Sunday. Full operations across all main offices are expected to resume on Monday morning.

Officials said the decision to keep a number of branches operating during the public holiday forms part of a broader contingency plan aimed at reducing pressure on citizens and guaranteeing uninterrupted access to vital services during one of the busiest financial periods of the year.

The postal authority has already intensified preparations ahead of Eid by accelerating pension payments and expanding operational readiness across its nationwide network of offices and service outlets.

Pension disbursements began on May 23, with total payments estimated at around 10 billion Egyptian pounds, according to the authority. Additional payments tied to irregular labor grants and cases transferred from the national insurance authority are estimated at nearly 1.5 billion pounds.

The measures come amid heightened demand for cash and financial services before the holiday, as millions of Egyptians prepare for increased seasonal spending and travel.
