Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann on the sidelines of a high-level conference marking the conclusion of the first phase of Egypt’s Country Programme with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

The meeting took place in the New Administrative Capital and was attended by senior Egyptian officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, along with representatives from the OECD.

Madbouly expressed appreciation for the strong partnership between Egypt and the OECD, highlighting the country’s active engagement across multiple OECD committees and its membership in the organisation’s Development Centre. He also emphasized Egypt’s co-chair role in the MENA-OECD Initiative.

The Prime Minister welcomed the successful completion of the programme’s first phase, describing it as a key pillar supporting Egypt’s structural economic reforms. He noted that the programme aligns with the country’s broader development strategy, including Egypt Vision 2030, and contributes to strengthening economic performance and resilience in the face of global and regional challenges.

Madbouly also expressed interest in launching a second phase of cooperation, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to continued collaboration with the OECD to advance sustainable development goals.

He further welcomed Egypt’s participation as a “participant” in the OECD’s Small and Medium Enterprises Committee, underlining the importance of this step in supporting entrepreneurship and private sector growth.
