The Egyptian Medicines Authority announced that Egypt has obtained membership in the Board of Directors of the African Medicines Agency, representing the Sahel and Sahara region.

This was announced during the third extraordinary meeting of the Acting Conference of States Parties, which began today and continues until Wednesday, April 24.

She stressed that this success came as a result of fruitful cooperation between the Egyptian Medicines Authority and the Egyptian Ministries of Health and Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Mohamed Hassani, Assistant Minister of Health for Public Health Initiatives, joined the Council’s membership for the Bioethics seat, representing the Sahel and Sahara region “Sin-Sad,” based on coordination between the Egyptian Medicines Authority and the Ministry of Health.

The Authority affirmed its commitment to developing the African regulatory system, enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences with brothers within the continent, with the aim of protecting the African citizen from potential epidemics and pandemics, as well as enhancing public health by providing safe, high-quality and effective medicine within the African continent.

This came within the framework of the Egyptian state’s endeavor to achieve African integration in the pharmaceutical sector, implement presidential mandates to support communication and access to Egyptian medicines within the African continent, and work to localize the continent’s needs for medical preparations and supplies, as well as vital preparations.
