Egypt has launched a new website aimed to spread awareness among Egyptians about China-originated coronavirus that appeared in December 2019, the state's cabinet media center reported on Monday.

The site is designed to be a one-stop resource for the Egyptians that includes public information about the deadly virus, such as means of transmission, protective measures, answers to the frequently asked questions and links to global, national, and local organizations monitoring the virus.

The website also offers the latest updates on the situation nationwide and worldwide in accordance with the World Health Organization.

The site will provide links to information from the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It also can be found via the ministry’s information portal, www.care.gov.eg.

Earlier today, Egypt announced the second coronavirus case of a Canadian employee who works in an Egypt-hosted oil and gas company. The patient has been isolated in a hospital to receive the necessary medical care.

“The number of infected cases in Egypt reached two,” the country's concerned health officials stated, pointing out that the first case was discharged from the hospital.

All the country’s ports and airports are on high alert and the ministry follows up the situation 24/7 to monitor coronavirus cases.

In this regard, WHO Representative in Egypt John Jabbour lauded the rapid response of the Egyptian government and its transparency in dealing with the confirmed case.

The epidemic has killed over 3,000 people worldwide, with the vast majority in mainland China and infected 90,000 globally.
