Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a bilateral meeting on Monday with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, on the sidelines of the emergency session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah.

The two ministers praised the growing momentum in relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, particularly following President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s recent visit to the Kingdom and his talks with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman on August 21, 2025.

They emphasized the importance of building on the outcomes of that visit to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and bolster regional stability amid current challenges.

Both ministers also underscored their commitment to activating the Higher Coordination Council between Cairo and Riyadh at the earliest opportunity, with the aim of advancing cooperation across multiple sectors.

Turning to developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, Abdelatty and Prince Faisal reaffirmed their firm rejection of Israel’s ongoing offensive on Gaza, condemning what they described as a policy of starvation and attacks against civilians in clear violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

The Egyptian foreign minister also highlighted Egypt’s efforts, in coordination with Qatar, to secure a ceasefire, facilitate the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid, and work toward the release of hostages and detainees.

The meeting concluded with both sides stressing the importance of maintaining close coordination between Egypt and Saudi Arabia on regional and international issues, in support of stability and the defense of shared Arab interests.
