The Egyptian Sugar & Integrated Industries Co. bought 100 thousand tons of Brazilian sugar in an international tender.

Traders said on Saturday that the price of the soluble carbohydrate had reached $ 275 per ton in the tender.

On April 9, the Egyptian Minister of Supply and Internal Trade affirmed the availability of all basic commodities and supplies in the markets, noting that the strategic reserve at the ministry is sufficient for several months, especially essential commodities, for at least 3 months.

The minister added earlier that Egypt has sufficient reserves of the monosaccharide for the next 5.7 months, reaching 10-11 months after supplying cane and sugar beets during the current season, which will end in June 2020.

Out of the total world production of table sugar, Brazil produces 41%, and India 8%. While Russia top's sugar beet production with 19% of the world total.

It is worth mentioning that Alcohol is made by fermenting sugar with a catalyst, which is usually yeast. After fermentation, the soluble carbohydrate turns into carbon dioxide and ethyl alcohol.
