The Korean Ambassador’s Taekwondo Championship 2025 concluded at Cairo Stadium – Indoor Hall 1, following two days of high-energy competition, cultural exchange, and martial arts excellence that brought together athletes, coaches, and fans from across Egypt. The event served not only as a major sporting occasion but also as a powerful symbol of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Egypt.
Organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Egypt, the Korean Cultural Center, and the Egyptian Taekwondo Federation, with support from the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation, this year’s championship drew participation from hundreds of competitors across the country. The tournament featured 18 weight categories for junior and senior athletes, male and female, providing a platform for emerging and elite Egyptian taekwondo talents to showcase their skill and discipline.
The opening ceremony was marked by a spectacular performance from the Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters Demonstration Team, whose renowned choreography, power, and artistry captivated the audience. Their appearance in Cairo launched their regional tour, which will continue in Tunisia and Morocco, reinforcing Korea’s cultural outreach through one of its most celebrated martial arts.
Speaking during the event, Oh Sungho, Director of the Korean Cultural Center in Egypt, highlighted the broader significance of the tournament. “This championship is more than a sporting event — it is a celebration of friendship and shared values between Korea and Egypt,” he said. “Through Taekwondo, we continue to build bridges of understanding and cooperation between our peoples.”
As the championship came to a close, medals were awarded to the winners across all divisions, recognizing both performance and sportsmanship. The tournament not only spotlighted the rising level of Taekwondo in Egypt, but also reaffirmed the enduring cultural and sporting ties between the two nations.
