Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty received a delegation of Canadian business leaders on Sunday as part of Egypt’s efforts to strengthen economic, trade, and investment relations with Canada. The meeting was attended by Egyptian-Canadian Business Council Chairman Moataz Rasslan, as well as Sherif El-Gebaly, head of the African Affairs Committee in Egypt’s House of Representatives and a board member of the council.
During the meeting, Abdelatty highlighted the strength of Egypt–Canada relations and expressed Egypt’s desire to expand cooperation in the economic and trade fields. He encouraged Canadian companies to increase their investments in Egypt, particularly in strategic sectors such as energy, agriculture, and water resources, noting that Egypt offers strong investment incentives and an increasingly attractive business environment.
The foreign minister emphasized the importance of building on the outcomes of the 12th round of political consultations between Egypt and Canada, held in April 2025, which included a visit by an Egyptian business delegation to Ottawa. He affirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ readiness to provide full support to the Egyptian-Canadian Business Council in promoting Canadian investment in Egypt and facilitating access for Egyptian exports to the Canadian market, in line with the government’s priority to attract foreign direct investment to support sustainable development goals.
Abdelatty also reviewed the economic and financial reform measures implemented by Egypt in recent years, outlining steps taken to improve the investment climate, modernize business-related regulations, and remove obstacles facing investors.
