The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the launch of the second phase of a comprehensive peace plan under UN Security Council Resolution 2803. The move includes the formation of a temporary Palestinian committee to administer the Gaza Strip.
In a statement from Jeddah, the OIC General Secretariat emphasized the necessity of maintaining geographical and institutional unity between Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The organization called for international pressure on Israel to end policies of settlement and annexation that undermine a two-state solution.
The OIC further stressed the importance of enabling the Palestinian government to exercise full authority over all territories occupied since 1967. It reaffirmed its support for establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, guided by United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
