Egypt is looking to substantially increase the number of Chinese tourists visiting the country, as tourism officials describe current figures as insufficient compared to Egypt’s capacity and appeal.
Industry representatives said a recent tourism promotion campaign in China focused on engaging tour operators and travel companies to introduce diverse travel programs covering Egypt’s cultural heritage sites, coastal resorts, and entertainment destinations.
According to officials, around 300,000 Chinese tourists have visited Egypt recently, a number they believe can be significantly increased through stronger marketing efforts and expanded cooperation with Chinese partners.
The campaign also underscored the importance of enhancing direct flight routes between the two countries, which are expected to improve accessibility and encourage higher visitor numbers.
Egypt’s renewed focus on the Chinese market comes as part of a wider plan to diversify tourism sources, boost foreign arrivals, and strengthen the sector’s contribution to the national economy.
