Egypt’s food export sector recorded a strong performance over the past week, with total shipments reaching 266,000 tons distributed across 192 countries, according to data released by the National Food Safety Authority.
The report revealed that 5,510 food export consignments were handled during the period, representing a wide range of 762 different food products. These exports were carried out by 1,515 Egyptian companies, highlighting the breadth and diversity of the country’s food manufacturing and agricultural base.
Gulf and regional markets remained key destinations, with Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Netherlands, and Jordan ranking among the top importers of Egyptian food products.
Citrus fruits dominated Egypt’s fruit exports, accounting for 78,000 tons out of a total 100,000 tons of fruit shipments. Strawberries followed as the second-largest fruit export, with volumes reaching approximately 16,000 tons.
In the vegetable category, Potatoes led exports with around 36,000 tons out of a total 70,000 tons. The figures underscore sustained international demand for Egyptian agricultural produce, even as the country continues to import certain food commodities to meet domestic consumption needs.
On the logistics front, Safaga Port ranked as the top export gateway, handling 1,115 food consignments. It was followed by Port of Alexandria and Damietta Port, reflecting the growing efficiency and capacity of Egypt’s maritime infrastructure.
The latest figures point to increasing competitiveness in Egypt’s food export sector, supported by improved port operations and expanding global market access.
