The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Egypt discussed ways to develop cooperation with Estonia, especially in the field of providing digital solutions for government services.
This came during a meeting of the Minister of Communications, Amr Talaat, with officials and representatives of companies members of the Estonian Information Technology and Telecommunications Corporation (ITL), headed by Doris Bold, Executive Director of the Corporation; According to the ministry's statement.
During the meeting, digital solutions provided by companies to serve and develop various fields were reviewed, in addition to discussing investment opportunities in the Egyptian ICT sector.
ITL is a non-governmental organization that brings together telecommunication companies and organizations to promote cooperation in the development of the information society in Estonia.
The corporation's member companies reviewed the most prominent technological solutions supporting a successful digital transformation, the benefits of e-justice, the use of digital identity in providing citizen services via smart phones, smart city planning, and the use of technology to develop tax administration.
The SmartCap investment fund aims to provide investments to private fund managers to create a vibrant market for venture capital and enable innovative Estonian companies to grow globally.
Talaat stressed that the communications and IT sector is the highest growing among the state's sectors despite the pandemic, in light of the implementation of a large number of projects to develop the sector and achieve digital transformation.
He explained that IT plays a pivotal role in managing the new administrative capital, where the government will move to it in a participatory manner, not just geographically.
The minister explained that the ministry's strategy has several axes, which include digital transformation to develop government services and provide digital services to citizens, in addition to building digital capabilities to develop skills in various communications and information technology sciences.
The meeting discussed a number of topics related to the standards required to create a supportive climate for technological innovation, financing mechanisms, and the possibility of cooperation in implementing programs to support startups.
