The Central Agency For Organization and Administration (CAOA) of Egypt denied reports that a large number of employees of the state’s administrative apparatus had been laid off in implementation of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) plan to approve a loan grant to counter the coronavirus (COVID-19) implications.

In the report on Friday, the Cabinet's Media Center affirmed the state’s commitment to preserving the rights of all employees, while developing and raising the efficiency of the administrative apparatus without prejudice to any of the workers' rights.

Moreover, CAOA affirmed that it will continue to improve the quality of services provided to citizens even as the pandemic hit economies worldwide.

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly had announced earlier that Egypt would request a second fund from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in addition to obtaining a technical support program.

Madbouly, in a press conference with the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Tarek Amer, said that the economic reform plan is prolonged during the current period, noting that the success of the Fund's program during the last period enabled the government to face the repercussions of the deadly virus.
