Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced new talks with Canadian energy firm Tag Oil aimed at expanding unconventional oil and gas production in the country’s Western Desert.
Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with Aby Badawi, President of Tag Oil, which operates the Badr-1 field in the Western Desert.
Discussions focused on the company’s plans to scale up exploration and production activities, particularly in unconventional resources, using advanced technologies to boost output.
“The Western Desert still holds significant untapped oil and gas potential,” Minister Badawi said, stressing the ministry’s commitment to working closely with international partners to deploy cutting-edge technologies for resource development.
On his part, Aby Badawi outlined Tag Oil’s ambitious growth strategy in Egypt, highlighting the company’s successful track record in the country and its determination to expand operations in unconventional plays. “Egypt remains a top priority for us in the Middle East and North Africa region,” he said.
The meeting was also attended by Ihab Ragab, First Undersecretary for Production at the ministry, and Gamal Rizk, Vice President of Tag Oil.
