Egypt Begins Implementing 1st Gold Refinery in Marsa Alam

In a bid to boost its gold production, Egypt is currently implementing the first gold refinery in Marsa Alam, south-eastern Egypt, according to Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla

El-Molla noted that work is currently underway to implement the new project, which aims at maximizing the added value of gold resources from 0.5% to 5% in the coming two years.

“We hope that this gold refinery would be able to increase the gold contribution to GDP and complete the value chain for gold production by maximizing local content," he said.

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources made these remarks came during the eighth consultative meeting of Arab mining and mineral resources in Riyadh that included the participation of nearly 100 States.
