17.8% Increase in value of Egypt's Trade Balance Deficit

Central agency for public mobilization and statistics issued Monthly bulletin of “Foreign Trade Data” December 2023.

The deficit value of trade Balance reached 3.03 billion dollars during December2023, versus 2.57 billion dollars for the same month of previous year, Increase of 17.8%.

The most important indicator is as follows. Exports value decreased by 23.0% as it reached 3.48 billion dollars during December 2023, versus 4.52 billion dollars for the same month of previous year, due to a decreased value of some commodities such as: (Fertilizers by 48.8%, petroleum products by 46.8%, natural and liquefied gas by 88.1%, plastics in their primary forms by 35.5%). 

While exports value of some commodities increased during December 2023, versus the same month of previous year such as (Ready-made clothes by 24.9%, fresh fruits by 3.6%, crude oil by 60.2%, pastries and various food preparations by 5.0%).

Imports value decreased by8.2% as it reached 6.51billion dollars during December 2023, versus 7.09 billion dollars for the same month of previous year, due to a decreased value of some commodities such as: (Organic and inorganic chemicals by 8.2%, plastics in their primary forms by 17.2%, soybeans by 14.7%, wood and its products by 40.5%).

Imports of some commodities increased in December 2023, versus the same month of previous year such as: (Petroleum products by 24.7%, raw materials of iron or steel by 80.2%, medicines and pharmaceutical preparations by 5.8%, wheat by 20.7%).
