EFA Postpones Appointment of Pharaohs' New Coach

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) postponed the appointment of Egypt’s new head coach.

The normalization committee, chaired by Amr Youssef Hassan El Ganainy, will hold a meeting on Wednesday to discuss some issues, according to a statement issued by EFA.

"The normalization committee, chaired by Amr Youssef Hassan El Ganainy will hold its meeting tomorrow evening to discuss some urgent files, that need to be decided on before the start of the new season," the statement read.

"The announcement of coach staffing could be postponed to another session," it added.

The statement also noted that the decisions, which would be taken during this meeting, would be revealed to the media and the public on Thursday.

It is worth mentioning that Osama Ismail, spokesman of the Egyptian Football Federation said on Monday the name of Egypt’s new head coach would be revealed on Wednesday.

The list of the names, that are in the running to lead the Pharaohs, are Egyptian team’s former coach Hassan Shehata, former Ahly coach Hossam El-Badri, Smouha boss Hossam Hassan, Misr El Maqasa current coach Mido, and Masry manager Ihab Galal.

Earlier this month, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced that the upcoming coach for the Pharaohs would be Egyptian.

The Federation International Football Association appointed on Tuesday, August 20 a normalization committee to run EFA.

FIFA decision came after the recent resignation of the Egyptian Football Association President Hany Abo Rida, as well as the entire broad members.

The committee included Amr Youssef Hassan El Ganainy as a chairman, Gamal Mohamed Ali as a vice president, Sahar Abdel Hak Ahmed, Mohamed Fadl Zahran, and Ahmed Abdallah Rady as members.
