Dwayne Johnson-Led Holiday Movie "Red One" Begins Production

Production began on Dwayne Johnson's holiday movie “Red One” at Prime Video.

 The movie is directed by Jake Kasdan, written by Chris Morgan, and based on an original story by Hiram Garcia, president of production at Seven Bucks Productions.

“Red One” is described as a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.

The four-quadrant family movie, which has plans to be an extensive franchise with merchandising throughout the Amazon universe, boasts a cast that includes Chris Evans, Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Kristofer Hivju, Nick Kroll, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and Wesley Kimmel. 

Oscar winner J.K. Simmons and Emmy nominee Bonnie Hunt have boarded respectively as Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Amazon Studios snapped up the project in a competitive bidding war. The project will stream in more than 240 countries and territories.

Johnson will also produce the movie along with Hiram and Dany Garcia on behalf of Seven Bucks Productions.
