The Egyptian Association for Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities extends condolences to the Egyptian people and the Arab nation for the death of the constitutional jurist and political thinker, Dr. Mohamed Nour Farhat, Professor of History and Philosophy of Law at the Faculty of Law, Zagazig University.

The late professor received the 2001 Excellence Award in Social Sciences and the 2003 State Appreciation Award in Social Sciences.

Sherif Gad, head of the association, indicated that the departure of Dr. Nour Farhat is a great loss. "With his departure, we lost a national figure who fought for the civil state in Egypt and the protection of the constitution", he said.

The late professor was the first president of the Egyptian Association for Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities, which was established in 2001, through which he contributed to building bridges of communication and cooperation between Egypt and the peoples of the former Soviet Union.

For his part, Dr. Fathi Toghan, Secretary General of the Graduates Association, indicated that Dr. Nour Farahat was one of the founders in building the administrative and organizational structure of the Alumni Association through his role as its first president, which is the effort that became the basis for the work of the association since I was honored to establish it with my colleague Sharif Jad.

It is worth noting that Dr. Farhat has great participation in several fields, as he held the position of chief advisor to the United Nations for human rights, and the United Nations hired him to draft the constitution of the State of the Maldives, and also to make an assessment of Sudan’s needs in the field of technical assistance in human rights.

Dr . Fathi Toghan added the international organization also used him in human development reports on freedoms and women in the Arab world.

Dr. Farhat e was also a member of the Supreme Council of Culture in Egypt and has many writings and articles in the field of philosophy, history of law, legal sociology, issues of democracy, and human rights.

He had a formidable national stance and supported the aspirations and hopes of the Egyptian people during the violent social transformations it went through Egypt in recent years.

He was also considered one of the most prominent defenders of the civil state in Egypt, one of the founders of the Egyptian Foundation for the Protection of the Constitution, and one of the most prominent graduates of Russian universities.
