The Antiquities Ministry announced that Discovery Channel would air a two-hour program on an archaeological discovery, uncovered by Dr. Zahi Hawass, the well-known archaeologist, in February 2018 in Minya governorate, Upper Egypt.

Hawass, on his part, said the international program will have a great tourist outcome, as it will be shown in more than 100 countries worldwide, a matter which boosts Egypt's cultural power.

Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) noted that the channel asked the ministry to get Dr. Hawass to partake in the program because of his famous reputation and to promote tourism in Egypt.

According to the Egypt Independent, the discovery was an ancient cemetery for family graves, which includes eight tombs, 40 coffins, and 1000 statues, dating back to the end of Pharaonic times and the beginning of the Ptolemaic era.

The tomb also contains 13 burials, in which a large number of ushabti figurines carved in faience were found, including more than 1,000 full statues and hundreds of others broken in pieces.

The tomb's excavations started in 2017 under the leadership of Waziri.
