"Deadpool 3" screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick shared an update about the upcoming threequel.

Ever since Disney acquired the 20th Century Fox studio, fans have rejoiced in the homecoming of various Marvel characters such as “Deadpool”, “The X-Men”, and “The Fantastic Four”.

They also speculated that Deadpool, an R-rated character might lose his edge given the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) might try to mold him into a more family-friendly image in the threequel. However, that is not the case.

Reese and Wernick assured fans who have been worried about the Merc with a Mouth, and noted: “Deadpool is gonna be Deadpool!".

"Now when it comes to a particular joke, if we cross a line, maybe we’ll hear at some point, ‘Maybe not that joke.’ But I think they’ve been incredibly supportive of what we’re doing because obviously, we were doing it separate from them for a long time," Reese noted.

"I think they’ve seen the success and they’ve had their own even greater success. So hopefully it’ll be a marriage made in heaven. But we’ve definitely got their support, and that’s a great thing to feel,".

Reese continued: "It’s an absolute thrill to have the band back together, to have a new backdrop in the MCU with new characters, new villains, that kind of thing. You know, it’s never a marriage we necessarily saw coming.".

“Deadpool 3” has been in development for years now but was further delayed by the merge.

The franchise is the top-grossing X-Men movies of all time, with the 2016’s Deadpool and the 2018’s follow-up “Deadpool 2” were huge box office, earning over $1.5 billion worldwide.

The threequel was officially confirmed in December 2019.

The movie is directed by Shawn Levy and sees Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as Deadpool.
