Danish Foreign Minister (FM), Lars Løkke Rasmussen, affirmed that Egypt "has been and continues to be a fundamental pillar in supporting humanitarian efforts and delivering aid to the residents of Gaza."
He noted that his country values the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his role in enhancing regional stability, particularly following the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement.
In an exclusive statement to Al-Qahera News TV channel on Monday evening, Rasmussen clarified that Egypt has made significant efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, confirming that Cairo has played a leading and decisive role in the path towards achieving peace in the region.
Rasmussen indicated that his country has allocated nearly $150 million in humanitarian aid since the outbreak of the conflict, pointing out that Copenhagen will continue to work within the UN Security Council to support UN resolutions calling for a ceasefire and an end to civilian suffering.
He confirmed that Denmark will stand with Egypt in its humanitarian and political endeavors and will support efforts to increase the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip, considering that Egypt has proven itself to be the most balanced and influential mediator in the current crisis.
Rasmussen also stated that Denmark looks forward to actively participating in the Gaza Reconstruction Conference planned to be held in Egypt later this month
