Marking World Heritage Day, Minister of Culture Dr. Gihan Zaki, alongside Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber, presided over the awards ceremony for the 7th edition of the "Turathi" (My Heritage) photography competition. Organized by the National Organization for Urban Harmony (NOUH) under Eng. Mohamed Abu Saeda, and in partnership with the "Phlog" platform, the event celebrated Egypt’s architectural identity through 7,492 entries submitted by 1,108 contestants across 26 governorates.
During the ceremony, Dr. Zaki honored Dr. Mohamed Al-Kahlawy, President of the General Union of Arab Archaeologists, as the "Heritage Personality of the Year" for his lifelong dedication to Islamic archaeology. Top prizes were awarded to Maryam Ashraf Shehata, Dina Mohamed Mohsen, Hagar Abdel Hamid, and Marcello Samy Rizk in the individual categories, while Ahmed Mostafa Salem and Samar Sayed Bayoumi secured wins for their specialized photography projects. The Minister also recognized artists Yahya Al-Alaily and Ramzy Makram Ebeid for their distinguished exhibition contributions before inaugurating a three-day exhibition showcasing the creative visual narratives of the participants.
