Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture and Dr. Ashraf Zaki, head of the Academy of Arts, honored the American theatre director Molly Smith during a symposium held at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts.
The event hosted the artist Khaled Al Nabawi and Dr. Ghada Jbara, Vice President of the Academy.
Abdel Dayem said that the seminar aims to acquaint the students of the Academy with international artistic experiences so that they can communicate directly with the specialists from different countries of the world.
The minister added that culture continues to modernize the academic syllabus of the academic institutes to prepare conscious new generations of creators who are able to do along with the modern trends in the field of culture and arts in Egypt.
The minister further noted that the turnout to attend the symposium of scholars highlight the students passion and desire for knowledge and their will to benefit from international experiences.
On his part, Dr. Zaki said that Molly Smith is one of the pioneers in the development of the arts in the world.
Smith started her career more than 40 years ago and worked as an art director since 1998. She directed more than 30 work on Arena Theater.
Smith was selected as the personality of the Year in 2018 in the National Theater Conference.
On the other hand, Smith expressed her happiness for being in Egypt and expressed her fascination with the ancient Egyptian civilization, which is a source of inspiration for its visitors and creators.
She also praised the generosity and warmth of the Egyptians.
She also asserted the ability of arts to motivate students to realize their dreams.
Afterwards, the theatre director tackled the beginnings of her artistic career and her dream of establishing a theater in everywhere to satisfy the public's consciousness.
The theatre director succeeded in turning the dream into reality through the establishment of Arena Theater in Washington, on which she presented many works and adopted many talents.
Smith spoke about her first meeting with the artist Khaled Al-Nabawi, admiring his role of in “Camp David” play in which Al – Nabawy presented the character of the late President Anwar Sadat
