Culture Min. Selects Samir Saif as NFF 23rd Edition's President

Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, announced the name of the late director, Dr. Samir Saif, as the president of the 23rd Edition of the National Film Festival (NFF).

Abdel Dayem appreciated his artistic contribution to enrich the cultural and artistic life to form the nation’s conscience, stressing that the country will always praise its creative sons who participated in forming the Egyptian history by using its soft powers.

It is worthy of note that the National Center for Cinema, headed by Dr. Souad Shawky, organized a festivity to commemorate the late director Samir Saif, in cooperation with Cultural Development Fund Sector headed by Dr. Fathi Abdel Wahab at the Creativity Center.

The ceremony was attended by late Saif’s family and a group of artists, filmmakers and his students.

The minister handed over a certificate of appreciation to Danny Samir Saif - late Saif’s son- who delivered a speech thanked the Ministry of Culture for honoring his father’s name and reviewing a part of his autobiography.

Many cinema stars gave their testimonies about their human and practical memories with Saif- Leila Alawi, Elham Shaheen, Photography Director Samir Faraj, Photography Director Mohsen Ahmed and others.

The celebration included screening a documentary film that reviewed the most important works of the late Saif. The audience was dedicated a booklet about Saif artistic career, prepared by Hussein Abdul Latif, followed by screening the movie entitled “Al Mouled”.
