Coronavirus Infects 125.4 Million People, Kills Some 3 million in World

A recent count conducted by “Reuters” news agency revealed that the novel Coronavirus (known also as COVID-19) has infected more than 125.4 million people and killed some 3 million others across the planet.

The deadly virus has invaded   210 countries and regions since it was first detected in China in December 2019.

On the other hand, the United States of America (USA) decided to accelerate the pace of vaccination and ease restrictions related to age in various states.

The local authorities seek to increase the number of people who are vaccinated to face the spike in an infection on a weekly basis since last January.

In contradiction to the advice of hygiene experts, some American states ruled to lift restrictions related to wearing facial masks.

However, new and more contagious variants of COVID-19 are spreading in all parts of the USA.

Reports warn that thirty states among the fifty ones are at peril of an increase in the number of infections.

Official data of the   Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the USA affirmed that some states like Maryland, Idaho, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oregon, and West Virginia witnessed a hike in the new infections with COVID-19.

But other states registered an increase of 25% in infections compared to the last week.

In Maryland, Governor Larry Hogan has decided to extend the capacity of eateries by 50%.

Meanwhile, Governors of Texas and Wyoming ruled to lift restrictions on wearing masks.

The French Minister of Health Olivier  Veran said that the government is ready to take more restricted measurements to reduces the rate of infections with COVID-19 if the current restrictions fail to save the people.

Veran warns that   France faces serious threats over the next few weeks.

It is worth noting French President Emanuel Macron had expected that his country may go through a difficult period until mid-April.

COVID-19 claimed lives of more than 93 thousand people in France.
