On Monday, 46 people were killed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, after gunmen attacked a center for the displaced in Ituri city, in the north-east of the Republic.
According to the AFP, quoting local sources, the attackers are suspected of belonging to one of the militias in the republic.
A local TV program indicated that at least 46 people were killed in the "Lala" camp for the displaced in the Djugu region, and a civil society leader noted that 23 children were among the dead.
Richard Dida Lenga, the local leader in Djugu province, accused the Kodiko militia of carrying out the attack, which took place at 2 am.
On its part, the Kodiko militia asserts that it is defending the interests of the Lendu tribe against the Hema and the army.
