COH to Announce 28th Arab Music Festival Details

Cairo Opera House (COH) headed by Dr. Magdy Saber will hold a press conference, Wednesday, October 16 to announce the details of the 28th edition of the Arab music festival. The event will take place from November 1 to 12.

The conference will kick off at 5:00 pm Cairo Local Time (CLT).

It will be attended by members of the preparatory committee including Musician Helmy Bakr. Musician Dr. Jamal Salama, Dr. Hassan Sharara, Dr. Reda Ragab, Dr. Emad Ashour, Dr. Khaled Dagher, Artist Amjad Al-Atafi, Media figure Amjad Mustafa, Artist Majid Sorour, Poet Jamal Bakheet, Musician Mohamed Rahim, Poet Hany Abdel Karim, Musician Ziad Al-Tit Yale, and the artist Jehan Mercy, the festival director, in addition to a group of media international news agencies, Arab and foreign satellite TV channels as well as radio networks.

Noteworthy, the COH, part of Cairo's National Cultural Centre, is the main performing arts venue in the Egyptian capital. Home to most of Egypt's finest musical groups; it is located on the southern portion of Gezira Island in the Nile River, in the Zamalek district near downtown Cairo.

The COH was inaugurated on 10 October 1988. The funds for the complex were a gift from the nation of Japan to Egypt as a result of former president Hosni Mubarak's visit to Japan in April 1983. Construction began in May 1985 and lasted for three years.
