Amr Hussein, head of the clothing pision of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce said that the market is currently witnessing an increase in sales; as discounts exceed 60%, explaining that sales have been on the rise since the beginning of November.

Hussein stated that the boom in the ready-made clothing came as a result of the discounts and as millions of citizens meet their marketing needs during November, noting that the high stock in the current period contributed to meeting the needs of citizens and offering more discounts.

He explained that some shops made imaginary offers to attract the consumer, saying: "In stores, some offer to buy 4 pieces and take the fifth as a gift," stressing that such offers were enough to eliminate the stagnation that has spread in the Egyptian markets for some time.

He stressed that clothing stores will continue to offer promotions next Friday, and even after the end of November.

On his expectations for the prices of clothes in the coming period, he said that the markets will witness an increase in the prices of fast fashion offered in the market starting from the new year.

He stated that prices will rise by 60% in conjunction with the increase in the prices of imported garments, as producing countries are expected to impose lockdown due to the new variant.

He confirmed that the new increase will be reflected in the prices of summer clothes, noting that winter clothes were already manufactured and all models are available in the market, but with the increase in the price of imported garments and the operational cost, the new increase will extend the summer clothes scheduled to be launched at the end of February.

Hussein pointed out that the prices of garments increased by 100%, as the ton of textiles rose to EGP 12,000 instead of EGP 60,000 last season, explaining that all importers do not have any of the raw materials in light of the closures imposed in India, and other producing countries.

In the same context, Sherwit Mohamed, a member of the Clothing Division, said that the White Friday offers contributed to the recovery of the clothing market in Egypt, noting that the market was in a state of stagnation in the past period.

Mohamed said that the cuts contributed to compensating the losses of the summer season, noting that all shops suffered losses in light of the inability to sell products during pandemic.

She pointed out that the market allows more discounts in the current period, as the consumer buys in the event of discounts, stressing that the coming period will witness more reductions in conjunction with the continuation of the November discounts in what is known as White Friday.

Workers in the ready-made clothing market in Egypt said that there is an increase in sales of more than 70% during the month of November, due to discounts and offers on all clothes, in conjunction with the “White Friday”.
