Colonel Ashraf Hassan Abu Nar, Director of the Central Operations Department at the General Directorate of Civil Defense, and his wife were killed Sunday morning in a shelling of their home in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense mourned the martyrdom of Colonel Abu Nar in a direct Israeli attack inside his home in Nuseirat refugee camp.
The Directorate said in a statement that Colonel Abu Nar had served over the past years as Director of the Gaza, Central, and Khan Yunis governorates, and most recently as Director of Operations. He was "a disciplined officer and a committed official in his humanitarian and professional work."
The occupation authorities continue to tighten the noose on Gaza by closing the crossings and preventing the arrival of relief supplies, with the exception of a few trucks that were allowed to cross a few days ago to areas in the southern Gaza Strip. International organizations have described these trucks as "a drop in the ocean of need for two million hungry and besieged people."
