Citigroup  wage gap between males and their female peers has dropped to 27% amid attempts by the American bank to restructure the salaries of some of its employees.

According to a statement by the Head of Human Resources Sarah Witcher, the average wage gender gap of Citigroup employees recorded 27% in 2019, down 2% from earlier estimates.

Meantime, the estimated data did not take into account seniority, title and location. When adjusted according to the same standard for employees, the bank stated that women employees were getting 99 % of what their male counterparts were receiving.

The US bank indicated that it still has a lot to achieve in the matter of the balance between salaries for similar positions.

The announcement marks the latest estimates by the third largest US bank amid efforts to issue  equal pay for workers.

By 2021, Citigroup should achieve the goal of allowing female employees to occupy about 40 percent of Assistant Vice President positions to the administrative level globally and 8 percent locally.

Witcher commented on this goal, saying: "This is what we are committed to implementing."
